Chicks and protein powder

After being in the supplement industry, I often found that many other women would ask me whats best to take for them as a women? I noticed quickly that a lot more women thought tha because it had a slightly brighter label (in most cases pink and often a slightly higher price) that it would do a better job for them. Often this is not actually true.

‘Can I take standard protein?’ The answer is yes you can. ‘Which is the best to take?’ Questions like these is what led me to write this article; in the hope that it may help any women out there on their own lifestyle and fitness journey.

Where to start

‘This won’t make me look like the hulk will it?’ A common question and ladies all I’m going to say is not to be afraid of protein powder, your body will use the protein powder to help strengthen your muscles - Not turn you into a hulking beast. Protein powder is a great way to get added protein into your diet especially if you’re in a hurry or limited on time rather than cooking up some chicken or eggs. Protein will help maximise recovery and grow muscle allowing you to reach your goals in and out of the gym.

If you go out and try a protein powder, do your research; read some reviews and get a feel for whats available. Talk to your local supplement store and see what they recommend too. If you’re like me I tend to stay with one protein brand and flavour because I know ill like it, switching up flavours can be easy if you know how to add other ingredients into protein shakes. Im currently using PVL Plant Protein and use it for smoothies and sometimes my morning oats! This plant protein is made from pea protein, pumpkin seed protein and quinoa as well as other sources. Another great plus about PVL as a brand is that it comes with the athlete tested tick and is trusted by the sports industry, meaning its of the highest quality.

Try this tasty smoothie recipe:

protein smoothie

  • 1 scoop vanilla flavoured protein powder
  • 1/2 banana - cut into slices
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup Almond milk
  • A handful of ice
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey

Blend all ingredients in a blender and drink!

What protein to buy?

There are many types of proteins out there, all with different profiles, sources, tastes and textures. At the moment Im using plant protein as Ive previously mentioned, but if you’re after a more whey based protein (Dairy based) here are a few I’d recommend!

Muscletech Nitro Tech 100% Whey Gold, I really loved the vanilla flavour from muscle tech and was blown away by the value for money with this protein! If you’re after a solid protein that fast absorbed into your muscles and has a great price have a look at Muscletech Nitro Tech 100% Whey Gold.

ANS N-Pro, this was my first protein I ever fell in love many years ago! Even now 3 - 4 years on Im still recommending it. N-Pro chocolate flavoured protein is my favourite, it blends well with any shake recipe and tastes great with just water. The quality of this protein is among the best on the market.

To sum up, women can have protein and not just the one with the pink label. Do your research and see what best suits you, protein doesn’t have to taste bland and boring instead mix it up add frozen fruits, greens, seeds and peanut butter. Get creative and have fun! I hope this article has helped :)

Peace out ladies
