THE IDEA THAT STARTED IT

A NOTE FROM JOHN

How it started.

I made these for my kids. Then I ordered thousands, because I wanted to do it properly — a real toy brand, on the shelf.

The brand isn’t ready. The toys are. They’re sitting on pallets in our warehouse, and I’d rather they were in a kid’s bath than in ours.

So we’re putting them to use. Every $100 someone spends with us sets one aside for a kid who’d like one. We cover it.

The idea was to sell a set and give a set. Now we’re putting the toys to use through Xplosiv.

Their description, in full

DESCRIPTION SUPPLIED FOR THIS CAMPAIGN

Nurturing Families is a West Auckland-based charity supporting families doing it tough across the Auckland region. We work alongside more than 180 frontline community and social service organisations to get practical essentials directly to families who need them - things like clothing, nappies, toiletries, bedding, car seats, bassinets and prams.

At the heart of what we do is making sure children have the essentials they need to be safe, warm and cared for, while taking a little bit of pressure off families when times are tough.

This is the wording supplied to us. Their website carries their latest organisation information.

Full campaign terms

Purchases online at xplosiv.nz and at participating Xplosiv stores count. Purchases at the franchise stores in Tauranga, Porirua, Lower Hutt and Wellington CBD are excluded. These store exclusions apply to both the spend-based giveaway and the additional charity set for each Duck Drifters set purchased. The brands shown above are shopping suggestions, not an eligibility list.

We set one complete Duck Drifters set aside for charity for every full NZ$100 in one online order or one in-store transaction. We use the purchase total after discounts, including GST. Separate purchases cannot be combined.

Gift cards, shipping and Duck Drifters purchases all count towards the $100.

For each Duck Drifters set you buy, we set one additional set aside for charity. The toy price also counts towards your purchase total, so these sets are added to any sets unlocked by your spend. Refunded or cancelled purchases do not count.

Xplosiv covers the full cost of every set given away. You pay the normal price and nothing more — you aren’t donating, so there’s no receipt and nothing for you to claim.
