The Receipts Behind NZ Whey

Proof, not promises.Backed by the lab, not just the label.

Anyone can print a number on a tub. We can show you where it came from. Every claim on this page traces back to a real document — the Fonterra batch our whey was made from, the independent test on every batch we pack, and the audited plant where it's made.

Why Everyday Kiwis Trust Xplosiv

Three Things Most Brands Can't Show You

Transparency isn't a tagline here — it's a paper trail. Here's what sits behind every tub of Xplosiv NZ Whey.

🧪

What's in the tub is tested

Every batch is independently lab-tested — protein content, heavy metals, contaminants, and 250+ banned substances — and we're publishing the results here, batch by batch. Not the first batch. Every batch.

📍

Where it came from is traceable

Take any batch: our whey traces back through our production records to a single Fonterra batch — provable because the same reference numbers appear across independent documents, ending in Fonterra's signed Certificate of Analysis.

🏭

Where it's made is verified

Blended and packed at VitaLabs, a New Zealand-owned GMP facility in Auckland — independently audited by SGS and AsureQuality to GMP-NZ, HACCP and MPI standards.

Tested. Every. Batch.

From Protein-Only to a Full Panel — On Every Batch

We used to test protein content on selected batches. Now every batch is independently tested across a full panel — and we're publishing the Certificate of Analysis here, batch by batch.

Protein content

Verified against the number on the label — within normal analytical variation, on file for every batch.

Heavy metals

Screened for lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury — including contaminants that can come from added ingredients.

Contaminants

Microbiological and contaminant screening on the finished, blended and packed product — not just the raw whey.

250+ banned substances

HASTA certified — a programme accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) screening for 250+ banned substances.

Transparency, in progress

We're publishing it as it lands.

Given what's happened across the supplement industry in recent days, we moved fast to pull this together and put it in the open. We've built this testing section at pace — the full finished-product Certificate of Analysis data, and more, will be added right here over the coming days.

HASTA certified — Human and Supplement Testing Australia

Don't take our word for it — check HASTA.

Every batch of our NZ Whey and NZ Isolate is listed on HASTA's public certified register — verified independently, not by us.

Earlier Test

NZ Whey Chocolate

23gprotein claimed on the label

✓ Tested within 5% variance — PASS

An earlier independent test of our NZ Whey Chocolate came in within 5% of its 23g label claim. We're adding the full test figures here as we build this section out.

Why the finished product, not just the raw whey? Added ingredients (like cocoa) can introduce their own contaminants — so heavy-metal and contaminant testing is done on the final product, after blending and packing. That's the honest place to test.

How It's Made

Documented End to End — Here's the Process

Made at VitaLabs in Auckland under a controlled, signed-off production system — every step checked and signed before a batch is released.

Goods arrive & get a number

Every incoming raw material is assigned its own unique Inwards Goods (IG) number. Nothing enters production unlabelled.

Dates checked, samples kept

Best-before dates and batch numbers are checked and recorded on arrival, and a 50 g retention sample is kept so any batch can be re-checked later.

Pre-production sign-off

Before a batch starts, dates and batch numbers are re-verified, the formulation is confirmed against the approved master formula, and hygiene and equipment checks are completed and signed.

Controlled blending

Blended in controlled sub-batches, then sieved — for an even, consistent mix from the first scoop to the last.

In-line weight checks

Fill weights are checked throughout the run and held at or over target — never under. You get at least what's on the label.

Seal, label & reject checks

Seal, label, batch number and best-before are checked and signed; any unit that fails a check is pulled and recorded as a reject.

Sample pulled for testing

A sample is pulled from every batch and sent for independent laboratory testing — the Certificate of Analysis behind the "tested every batch" promise.

Yield recorded & released

Final yield is recorded and the batch is released only once every check is complete and signed off.

Traceable to the Source

From Our Production Sheet to Fonterra's Signed COA

"NZ whey" should mean something. Here's a worked example — one batch, traced end to end — showing how every Fonterra delivery links to its own certificate. Every link backed by a document, every document sharing the same reference numbers.

1

Our production sheet

Logs the whey used in the batch by its Inwards Goods number.

IG 16787
2

The Fonterra delivery

That IG number matches the Fonterra consignment delivered to our VitaLabs plant in Rosedale, Auckland — 5,000 kg of NZ whey protein concentrate.

Consignment 14657718
3

One Fonterra batch

The delivery ties to a single Fonterra production batch from the Lichfield whey factory.

Batch 23369597
4

That batch's signed COA

That exact batch has its own Fonterra Certificate of Analysis — raw whey (WPC80) at 77.91% protein (81.8% dry basis), with E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria all not detected — signed and stamped by Fonterra's GM of Global Quality.

The incoming raw whey. This is the Fonterra ingredient certificate — proof of genuine NZ Fonterra whey, traceable to the exact batch. The finished tub is then tested separately (see Tested Every Batch).

Independently Verified

Made at a Plant That's Audited by Others

Our NZ Whey is blended and packed at VitaLabs, an Auckland GMP facility whose systems are independently certified and audited.

SGS

SGS

Independent auditor of the VitaLabs plant's quality and food-safety systems.

AQ

AsureQuality

New Zealand government-owned food assurance body — independent verification of the facility.

GMP

GMP-NZ

Good Manufacturing Practice certification for the manufacturing facility.

HACCP

HACCP

Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points — the food-safety management standard.

MPI

MPI standards

Manufactured to New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries requirements.

HASTA

HASTA (product)

Product-level: every batch screened for 250+ WADA banned substances. Verify on HASTA →

Two kinds of proof, kept separate on purpose: SGS, AsureQuality, GMP-NZ, HACCP and MPI verify the plant and its systems — where our product is made. HASTA and the finished-product Certificate of Analysis verify the product itself — what's in the tub. Certificates available on written request.
