MuscleTech AlphaTest is a six-ingredient capsule supplement built around four standardised botanical extracts, plus zinc and a broccoli concentrate. Every amount is printed on the panel — there is no proprietary blend and no undisclosed total. Fenugreek, tribulus and longjack have a long history of traditional use in men's herbal supplementation. This is the United States bottle. Read the panel, not the front of the pack.

Every amount printed

Four extracts, four numbers

No blend totals to hide behind. Each botanical is listed at its own milligram amount, and two of the four carry a standardisation percentage as well.

300 mg
Fenugreek extract
250 mg
Tribulus extract
100 mg
Boron citrate
75 mg
Longjack extract

What a serving actually contains

A serving is 2 capsules. The bottle holds 120 capsules — 60 servings. Those figures are the panel's, not an estimate.

Percent Daily Values are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. Daily Value not established for the botanical extracts or boron.

The three numbers most labels don't give you

A standardisation percentage is only useful if you do the multiplication. Here it is done:

1

150 mg of fenugreek saponins. The panel lists 300 mg of extract standardised for 50% saponins. Plenty of labels print the extract weight and leave the percentage off, which makes two very different products look identical.

2

112.5 mg of tribulus saponins. From 250 mg of extract standardised for 45%. Tribulus is one of the most variable ingredients on the shelf — unstandardised material can be a fraction of this.

3

5 mg of elemental boron. The panel says 100 mg of boron citrate supplying 5% boron. The number that matters is the elemental one, and it is far smaller than the headline weight.

Zinc, and why it is the one nutrient here with a Daily Value

Zinc is the only ingredient in this formula that is a recognised nutrient with an established Daily Value rather than a botanical extract. At 7.5 mg as zinc gluconate a serving supplies 68% of the US Daily Value. Zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction.

Worth knowing: zinc gluconate is a well-absorbed and widely used form. If you already take a multivitamin, a separate zinc supplement or a greens blend, check the total — zinc is one of the easier minerals to double up on without meaning to.

How to take it

Two capsules per serving. Follow the directions on the bottle you receive, and take it with water.

Read the bottle for the daily amount. The panel defines a serving as 2 capsules and the bottle as 60 servings; the number of servings to take per day is set by the label's own directions, so follow those rather than a figure quoted online.

Other ingredients, and the capsule

ComponentWhat it is
Rice flourBulking agent
GelatinThe capsule shell — animal-derived
Titanium dioxideCapsule colourant (opacifier)
FD&C Red No. 40, Blue No. 1, Yellow No. 6Capsule colourants
Magnesium stearateFlow agent

Not vegetarian or vegan. The capsule shell is gelatin. The colourants are the US FD&C set, which is why the capsule is coloured rather than clear.

Who this suits

A good fit if

  • You want standardised botanical extracts with the percentages printed, not a blend
  • You prefer capsules to powders
  • You are comparing labels on dose rather than on front-of-pack wording
  • You want the US formula specifically

Look elsewhere if

  • You need a vegetarian or vegan capsule
  • You would rather avoid synthetic colourants or titanium dioxide
  • You are already taking zinc from another supplement
  • You want a single-ingredient product at a higher individual dose

Questions

How many capsules are in the bottle?

120 capsules. The Supplement Facts panel lists a serving size of 2 capsules and 60 servings per container.

What is the serving size?

Two capsules. Each 2-capsule serving supplies 300 mg fenugreek extract, 250 mg tribulus extract, 100 mg boron citrate, 75 mg longjack extract, 50 mg broccoli and 7.5 mg zinc.

Does it contain shilajit?

No. MuscleTech AlphaTest contains no shilajit. The botanical extracts on this panel are fenugreek, tribulus, longjack and broccoli, plus boron citrate and zinc.

How much actual boron does it provide?

5 mg of elemental boron. The panel lists 100 mg of boron citrate supplying 5% boron, and 5% of 100 mg is 5 mg.

Is the capsule vegetarian?

No. The capsule shell is gelatin, which is animal-derived, so the product is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

Is this the same as the AlphaTest sold in the United States?

Yes — this is the United States formula and the United States bottle, which is why the panel uses US Daily Values and the capsule uses FD&C colourants.

What is the difference between the extract weight and the saponin figure?

The extract weight is how much plant extract is in the capsule; the saponin figure is how much of the marker compound that extract is standardised to contain. Fenugreek is 300 mg of extract standardised for 50% saponins, giving 150 mg of saponins. Tribulus is 250 mg standardised for 45%, giving 112.5 mg.
