• 510.5 mg of named complex per sachet — and the panel's own arithmetic reconciles exactly: 338.5 mg plus 172 mg equals 510.5 mg.
• Six vitamins and three minerals, each with its own amount — vitamin D, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, magnesium, chloride and potassium.

What you are actually buying

A flavoured, caffeinated drink powder with an electrolyte and vitamin panel attached. One sachet into 500 mL of water, shaken and drunk straight away. That is the format, and the Supplement Facts tab is the full statement of what is in it.

The front of this pack was printed for the United States. New Zealand rules for dietary supplements are stricter than the United States rules this box was printed under, so the front-of-pack wording is not repeated on this page and is not part of what we are telling you about the product.

One blend name on the panel is a marketing claim, so we do not reproduce it. The United States panel prints a claim-shaped name over the 338.5 mg blend. That name cannot lawfully be advertised in New Zealand, so this page and the Supplement Facts tab print that row as “Proprietary blend” and reproduce the 338.5 mg dose exactly as printed. The dose is the manufacturer's; only the name has been set aside.

Where the artwork and the panel differ, the panel wins. The Supplement Facts tab on this page holds real text rather than a picture of a label, so it can be searched, copied and read on a phone without pinching to zoom.

The panel, plainly

Caffeine anhydrous, 135 mg. The single most important number on this label, and the only member of the 338.5 mg blend that prints its own amount. Two sachets, the maximum the directions allow in a day, is 270 mg. Count your coffee, tea, cola and any pre-workout on the same day before you decide whether this fits your routine.

Hydroxycut® Drink Mix Complex, 510.5 mg. The umbrella total on the panel. It is made of two sub-blends printed underneath it, and their amounts add up to the total exactly rather than approximately: 338.5 mg plus 172 mg is 510.5 mg.

Proprietary blend, 338.5 mg. Six named members: robusta coffee extract (C. canephora robusta, bean), caffeine anhydrous, plum (Prunus domestica, fruit), baobab extract (Adansonia digitata, fruit), cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum, seed) and apple cider vinegar (Malus pumila, fruit). Only the caffeine row prints an individual amount.

Robusta coffee extract, standardised for 45% chlorogenic acids. The panel prints that standardisation as a qualifier line under the row but prints no milligram figure for the extract itself, so the amount of chlorogenic acids per sachet cannot be calculated from the label.

Electrolyte Plus Blend, 172 mg. Four named members with no individual amounts: magnesium oxide, potassium chloride, coconut water (Cocos nucifera, fruit) and watermelon juice (Citrullus lanatus, fruit). The coconut water is why the box carries a coconut allergen statement.

Magnesium 50 mg, potassium 70 mg, chloride 40 mg. The three minerals declared separately at the top of the panel, printed at 12%, 1% and 2% of the United States Daily Value respectively.

Six vitamins: D 10 mcg, thiamin 0.3 mg, riboflavin 0.33 mg, niacin 4.0 mg, B6 0.4 mg, B12 1.2 mcg. Against the United States Daily Value on the label that is 50%, 25%, 25%, 25%, 24% and 50%. Those are United States figures on an imported label, not New Zealand reference values.

How to use it

1. Open a 500 mL bottle of water and take a sip — the manufacturer asks for the sip first so the powder has room and does not overflow.
2. Empty one whole sachet into the bottle — one sachet is one serving, 2.5 g, and it is not meant to be split.
3. Shake it and drink it straight away — the directions say to consume immediately rather than leaving it mixed.
4. Time it 30 to 60 minutes before a main meal — that is the manufacturer’s published timing for each serving.
5. Two sachets a day is the label maximum — the directions cover the two main meals of the day, and two sachets is 270 mg of caffeine.
6. Count your caffeine first — 135 mg is already in the sachet, so add up your coffee, tea and any pre-workout before you take it.
7. Store the box cool and dry — out of reach of children.

Check the caffeine before you add anything. One sachet already carries 135 mg and two carry 270 mg, so a pre-workout, an energy drink or a strong coffee on the same day stacks on top of it rather than beside it. Most people run a sachet on the opposite end of the day from their pre-workout.

Nothing here replaces water, food or daily protein. This is a 2.5 g flavour-and-actives sachet you dissolve in water — not a protein source, not a meal and not a substitute for plain water through the day. Most people keep the rest of their routine exactly as it was.
