Pea protein isolate is a concentrated protein extracted from yellow split peas, with most of the starch and fibre removed so the powder is roughly 68–77% protein. It naturally contains all nine essential amino acids, including 5.4g of BCAAs per 25g serve, making it a useful plant-based alternative to whey.

Mix one 25g scoop with 200ml of water or milk and blend in a bullet, or shake hard with ice. Pea protein is naturally thicker and earthier than whey, so a cold liquid and a quick blend give the smoothest result. Adding it to a fruit smoothie works well too.

It is sweetened only with stevia and thaumatin — two plant-based sweeteners — and contains just 0.08g of sugar per serve, with no sucralose, aspartame or added sugar. That gives it a milder, less dessert-like taste than heavily sweetened proteins, which many plant-based buyers prefer.
