Taurine is a naturally occuring organic acid produced in the pancreas and very closely resembles an amino acid. It exists in very high levels in muscle and is responsible for major functions such as calcium homeostasis and electrolyte balance. Taurine levels in muscle are subject to regulation by exercise, especially in fast-twitch fibers. Rodent research has shown that exercise can deplete Taurine levels, while Taurine supplementation can increase Taurine levels in fast twitch muscle fibers. Maintaining Taurine levels is linked to increased endurance and decreased exercise-induced muscle damage. Human research confirms that Taurine supplementation minimizes damage and increases endurance, in part through its antioxidant activity. Fat loss is a key benefit (via improved lipid metabolism) of Taurine supplementation, particularly in overweight and obese adults.
Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, take Taurine in two divided doses of 1.5 gram per dose with one dose consumed pre-workout.
